BridgeWave’s GigE Wireless Links Receive FIPS-197 Advanced Encryption Standard Certification for Complete Compliance with Strengthened Security Requirements

First GigE Wireless Solutions to Pass Rigorous 256-Bit AES Certification Testing to Meet Stringent Security Demands of Government, Enterprise and Network Operator Applications

Santa Clara, CA – September 19, 2007 – BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, today announced that its 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) security solution has been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to meet government Federal Information Processing Standard-197 (FIPS-197) requirements. BridgeWave’s 60 GHz and 80 GHz product lines are the first Gigabit Ethernet wireless links to meet the government’s rigorous standards for ensuring secure communications.

InfoGard, an independent, accredited IT security laboratory based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., administered the evaluation of BridgeWave’s AES offering. "BridgeWave has taken the necessary steps to comply with the demanding FIPS-197 requirements," says Tom Caddy, general manager and laboratory director of InfoGard. "As a result, BridgeWave can offer its customers the additional peace of mind of knowing that the company’s AES offering has been tested by InfoGard, an approved lab, as well as validated by NIST."

According to Idan Bar-Sade, senior vice president of engineering for BridgeWave, FIPS-197 certification is required by many government agencies for their secure network deployments. "BridgeWave is pleased to offer both public and private organizations the most advanced data encryption available," he says. "While our solution has been designed and certified to meet demanding government standards, we are offering it at an affordable price-point to address a variety of government, enterprise and network operator applications."

Introduced in July 2007, BridgeWave's AES encryption solution is the first to offer full-rate GigE wireless data security without the cost, complexity and performance degradations associated with traditional gigabit encryption products. This encryption solution provides an additional layer of data protection on top of the inherent physical security provided by BridgeWave's narrow-beam transmissions. With the largest installed base of GigE radios worldwide, BridgeWave continues to gain significant market traction. The company's high-performance, economical and secure wireless products are highly viable alternatives to fiber for LAN backbone extensions, high-capacity access services as well as emerging WiMAX/4G mobile backhaul applications.
