BridgeWave Introduces First Built-in GigE Wireless Encryption to Deliver Enhanced Data and Management Security for Enterprise, Government and Network Operator Applications

Advanced Security Solutions Add Extra Layer of Data Protection with Full Gigabit Speed, 256-Bit AES Encryption and Secure HTTPS Network Management

Santa Clara, CA – July 23, 2007 – BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, today announced fully integrated GigE wireless data encryption and secure network management for its 60 GHz and 80 GHz Gigabit wireless link product lines. The new advanced capabilities provide an additional layer of data protection to BridgeWave’s inherently secure wireless links in order to safeguard sensitive customer, employee and organization information.

With built-in, 256-bit AES encryption, BridgeWave is the first to offer full-rate GigE wireless data security without the cost, complexity and performance degradations associated with traditional gigabit encryption solutions. Until now, external encryption devices have been required, which result in reduced network capacities and increased packet latencies while adding substantial equipment costs and administrative overhead. In contrast, BridgeWave's integrated encryption is an ultra-low latency solution that operates at full GigE line speeds to address heightened security needs without impacting network performance. Additionally, encrypted HTTPS network management and RADIUS authentication support offer secure access to BridgeWave's embedded management web server and centralized user access control, complying with the security policies of government and larger operator and enterprise networks.

According to Gregg Levin, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for BridgeWave, the new encryption and network management capabilities extend the inherent physical security of BridgeWave's wireless links. "Our 60 GHz and 80 GHz links already feature very narrow radio beams, providing highly secure spatial pipes that are typically more secure than inter-building fiber runs," he says. "With our new AES offering, Bridgewave has added an additional encryption layer, resulting in a level of data security that meets or exceeds what is available using other wired or wireless technologies."

"Over the past few years, the growing number of high-profile security breaches has caused IT departments to strengthen their internal policies to reduce risks of accidental or deliberate data disclosures," says Larry Swasey, co-founder of wireless industry analyst firm Visant Strategies. "The high costs of deploying encryption at Gigabit Ethernet data rates however, have forced budget-constrained organizations to make trade-offs between security and network performance. With BridgeWave's integrated encryption capabilities, users now have a solution to choose that can help implement some of the highest levels of data protection without having to compromise on network performance."

With the largest installed base of GigE radios worldwide, BridgeWave continues to gain significant market traction. The company's high-performance, economical and secure wireless products are highly viable alternatives to fiber for LAN backbone extensions, high-capacity access services as well as emerging WiMAX/4G mobile backhaul applications.

Availability and pricing: BridgeWave's advanced security bundle is available from the company's partners worldwide for a MSRP of $6,900.
