BridgeWave Communications' GE60X Gigabit Wireless Link Shatters the 60 GHz One-Mile Barrier

Santa Clara, CA - June 6, 2005 - BridgeWave Communications, the technology leader in upper millimeter-wave wireless communications, is delighted to announce the availability of its new GE60X extended-range gigabit wireless link - the first 60 GHz GigE link to operate beyond a mile.

The GE60X is the longest-range, highly-available, license-free gigabit wireless link in the market. It operates well beyond one mile in dry air, and provides highly-available service, even during periods of rainfall, at distances of up to one mile. The GE60X builds on the success of BridgeWave's market-leading GE60 product by doubling the maximum link distance. This achievement results from the combination of a very-high-gain two-foot antenna, maximum-allowed transmit power, and BridgeWave's strong forward error correction coding.

"Doubling the maximum link distance quadruples the number of building pairs that can be linked at full GigE wireless speeds," explained Gregg Levin, BridgeWave's Senior Vice President of Product Operations. "This is especially important for network operators who have often been unable to utilize cost-effective 60 GHz links due to range limitations."

The GE60X is available for immediate order through leading wireless value-added resellers and distributors, with deliveries starting in July.
