BridgeWave Communications Announces First GigE Links Based on Improved FCC E-Band Rules
Santa Clara, CA - June 5, 2006 - BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, announces the breakthrough GE80 and AR80 E-Band Gigabit Ethernet wireless links. The GE80 is the first E-Band link to feature a compact and easy-to-install one-foot antenna that became possible with the recent optimizations made by the FCC to the E-Band frequency rules. The AR80 adds BridgeWave's unique AdaptRate™ capability, providing highly-available connections at distances far beyond what is achievable using traditional small form factor designs.
The GE80 and AR80 enable network operators to provide high-capacity services to enterprises and backhaul for mobile and municipal networks when last-mile fiber is not available. They also provide extended-range solutions for connecting enterprise LANs between buildings and sites.
BridgeWave's GE80 is the most-affordable E-Band link on the market, and offers the benefits of the E-Band's quick and simple licensing process. AR80 AdaptRate links provide the same ease-of-use benefits of GE80 links, plus the ability to support link distances that rival those achievable using larger traditional antennas. The AdaptRate capability momentarily switches from GigE to 100Mbps data rates to penetrate intense cloudbursts, providing continuous operation even under adverse conditions. The AR80 is the only E-Band link with the AdaptRate capability, providing over ten times more link margin without the need to use large antennas.
BridgeWave products are sold through leading value-added resellers and wireless disributors. GE80 and AR80 GigE wireless links will be available for general delivery starting in July, with list prices of $31,900 and $35,900 respectively.
